Registration is now open for the OMAN DESERT BAJA Rally Race February 22nd – 25th, 2017!

Come traverse the diverse terrain of the Sultanate of Oman in this Cross-Country Rally Race with the Pharaons Rally JVD and the cooperation of the Oman Automobile Association.

Join racers from all over the world through the mountains, dunes and valleys of Oman with our first challenge: the Oman Desert Baja.

Between the Oman Automobile Association’s track record of successful motor events in Oman and the Pharaons Rally JVD’s experience of World Championship in Cross Country Rallies – Oman Desert Baja is bound to be a unique adventure.

Rally Headquarters will be Jebel Sifah, the official host of the race – a beautiful refuge by the sea after a day packed with adventure!

2017 opens new horizons for The Pharaons Rally JVD, and the Cross Country Rally World, a new adventure, in a new country for rally raid races: OMAN!

This beautiful country will be hosting a series of races: Baja and Cross-Country rallies that allow competitors to discover this pristine territory dominated by mountains, dunes and seas.

Our first race - the OMAN DESERT BAJA - is set in the northern part of the Omani desert, Jebel Sifah starting February 23rd - ending February 25th.

OMAN DESERT BAJA will consist of four very special and challenging stages. Day 1 will consist of three special stages starting from the ocean and then race through the winding mountains to reach the peaks: at an altitude of over 2000 m, where eagles dominate the skies. The magic of the Pyramids welcomes Al Attiyah, Piatek and Abu Issa


GIZA – The emotion to finish the Pharaons Rally at the Giza Pyramids it’s a unique thing in the scenery of the rally raid. An even stronger emotion for the winners of the 2015 edition: Nasser Al Attiyah/Mathieu Baumel (QAT/FRA – Mini All4 Racing) among the cars, Jakub Piatek (POL – KTM) among the bikes and Mohammed Abu Issa (QAT – Honda) among the quads.

The last leg of the 2015 Pharaons has started this morning from the Baharija Oasis for a special of 339 kilometres, a special that traditionally shows up some surprises. But tradition was almost playing against Mohammed Al Balooshi (ARE – KTM), the pilot that dominated the first three stages and yesterday lost his leadership for a navigation mistake. TIBNIYA – The second to the last stage of Pharaons Rally has run over the same track of the second stage, due to the discovery of an archeological site few days before the start of the race. Over a track almost all traced by the passage of the second day, navigation was not playing a dominant role, but in spite of this, surprises were not missing. Mainly among the bikes, with the classification leader Mohammed Al Balooshi (KTM: he has made the same mistake of two days ago, so he’s lost much time before getting back on the right track.

The leg has gone to the Bolivian Chavo Salvatierra (KTM) leaving few attention to the navigation and - even if he opened the track as in the previous days - he has made the difference compared to his competitors.

Changes in the bikes results


After the mistake in the coordinates of the waypoint at km 261,60, the International Jury took the decision to neutralize the time between the previous and the following waypoints, corresponding with km 244.310 and 268.950. According to the new results, Mohammed Al Balooshi wins the stage with 1’24’’ lead over Jakub Piatek. Diocleziano Toia loses the leadership of the stage and is now third with 2’36’’ behind Balooshi. Quad rider Mohammed Abu Issa wins the stage ahead of Rafael Sonik. The change in the results leads to a new overall ranking with Balooshi leading over Piatek (2) and Salvatierra (3). Abu Issa has secured his lead over Sonik with 4 minutes difference.

TIBNIYA – Pyramids are getting increasingly closer, with the third stage of 2015 Pharaons Rally that has passed the turning point with a varied day as usual with many kind of terrains. A wide loop of 346 kilometres, 319 of which of selective section, that has seen the victory of Yazeed Al Rajhi among the cars, Diocleziano Toia among the bikes and Rafal Sonik in the quad category.

Being fifth at the start this morning and exploiting this at his best, Yazeed Al Rajhi (Toyota) has doubled the success of the first stage again in front of Nasser Al Attiyah (Mini), who is definitely registered in second position. The gap between the two is 1’28’’ that becomes 3’38’’ for Erik Van Loon (Mini), finally actor of high level stage. Only fourth is the winner of yesterday, the Russian Vladimir Vasilyev (Mini), anyway only four minutes behind from the winner ...


Vasilyev, Al Balooshi and Abu Issa dominant over the Sitra dunes


TIBNIYA – Vladimir Vasilyev among the cars, Mohammed Al Balooshi among the bikes and Mohammed Abu Issa among the quads are the winners of the second stage of the 2015 Pharaons Rally. The first drivers and riders have started at 6.00 am directly from the bivouac for the long stage of the day, 457 kilometres total, of which 343 of selective section. In the day menu the beautiful dunes of Sitra, North of the road that from Baharija takes to the remote Oasis of Siwa.

Among the cars it has been the Russian Vladimir Vasilyev (Mini), that has been able to exploit his fourth position at the start in ending the special with the timing 03:17:42. Al Rajhi, Al Balooshi and Abu Issa: Middle East dominion in the first day


TIBNIYA – It was still dark when the first bike has left the Caesar Bay Resort of El Alamein direction start of the first selective section of 2015 Pharaons Rally. A transfer of 215 kilometres has taken to the start of special, the first real commitment for the competitors with its 228 kilometres.

Yazeed Al Rajhi (Toyota Overdrive) among the cars, Mohammed Al Balooshi (KTM) among the bikes and Mohamed Abu Issa (Yamaha) among the quads on the opening day of the rally.

The desert waits for the Pharaons


Leaning on the blue of the Mediterranean Sea, half way between El Alamein and Marsa Matrouh, the Caesar Bay Resort has welcomed two days of checks of the 2015 Pharaons Rally. hugged by the sea breeze, pilots and assistants have finalized all the initial procedures, ready to launch themselves in five difficult stages that will take all to the Giza Pyramids, where Saturday May 16th the Egyptian Rally will finish.

Today they have concluded the checks all the bigs of the two and four wheels, headed by the winners of the previous editions, the Saudi Yazeed Al Rajhi (Toyota Overdrive) among the cars, the Bolivian Chavo Salvatierra among the bikes and the Polish Rafal Sonik among the quad.

The fight among cars will be lead mainly by Nasser Al Attiyah (Mini X-Raid), that last year fought up to the last kilometer with Yazeed, and obviously also with the actual World ...


Pharaons Rally: the countdown has started!!!


The new challenge in the Egyptian Desert will start shortly: the 2015 Pharaons Rally that marks the fourth appointment of the Cross Country FIA World Cup and the third of the FIM World Championship. The loading procedures at Venice Port are done and the Grimaldi ship is already sailing toward Alexandria, while other vehicles will arrive directly from Abu Dhabi and Qatar. The appointment is for May 10th in El Alamein at the luxurious Caesar Bay Resort, inserted among dunes and tongues of white sand that run at the side of the crystal blue Mediterranean Coast.

Two days dedicated to the needed “bureaucracy” before the race, then on May 12th the thrilling challenge will open up and will cross magical places full of history.
