2012 PHARAONS CLASSIC

from 2013 September 30th to October 5th

GENERAL INFO

The PHARAONS CLASSIC is a tactical Cross Country Rally customized to any level and type of off-road vehicles (quads, cars and trucks) without age limit. Its purpose is to allow a real African Rally for the passionate who want to drive on the same tracks of the renowned Rallye des Pharaons (Pharaons ICCR), without any specific regulation. Equipped with GPS, Tripmaster and Iritrack participants are always under the HQ truck close watch.

There is no timing or maximum speed control or pure performances to be considered, it's only your strategy in function of your own ability and of your vehicle.

As for the Pharaons ICCR there is no elimination from the race; each participant who has no accident can run till the end of the race if his health and his engine allow him to go. Spare parts and wheels can be loaded on the dedicated organization truck if you previously ask for it (service given against payment).

The CLASSIC is activated for a minimum of 5 participants in each class.

Progress

Each of the race six stages is divided into sections among the CP of Pharaons Rally. Each section has its own grade of difficulty and each team can chose the sections they wish to run, the only condition is to inform the Pharaons Classic responsible at the bivouac each morning before depart.

The daily and the rally classification are prepared according to the number of kilometres done on the race track, together with these following categories: Historical (more than 20 years), Classic (from 10 to 20 years), Recent (10 years) and 2 Wheels Drive.

Case 1 ;

One team runs 58 km of a section difficulty 2, then they take the asphalt, then they run another section of the track for 112 km difficulty 1, finally get back on the asphalt. They have done 58x2 + 112x1 = 228 km.

Case 2 ;

One team runs only a 60 km section difficulty 4 and they run the rest of the day on the asphalt, they have then done their 240 km day of race and they are classed in front of the previous case.

Road Book

The road book i.e. the description of the legs and the pictured maps of each leg are given to pilots at the administrative checks.

The road book of the next day leg is handed to pilots each evening at 5.00 p.m. under the bivouac big tent.

We are into an experience of strategy where timing and speed don't ever interfere with classification, but each pilot has to adapt his way to face factual difficulties of the track according to his ability and his vehicle possibility.

STARTING ORDER

The start of Pharaons Classic will run as usual after the start of the Pharaons ICCR, with an interval of 15' between the last team of the Pharaons ICCR race and the first of the Pharaons Classic. The starting gap between each vehicle is then 1 minute. The start is given according to the road book.

Conditions for staying in the race

If a team has chosen not to enter in the race track along the day i.e. they run on asphalt from bivouac to bivouac, they're not eliminated from the race but they get one penalty corresponding to "500 km", which is then deducted from the main classification. They can then keep on with the race, but they are strongly penalized.

If a team gives up the rally anytime for any reason, they have to inform the HQ Truck as well as the responsible of the Classic rally.

In order to be admitted to start again at one leg, pilot will be authorized if his vehicle still answers to safety standards asked by the technical regulation. At the same time, a medical check of the team can occur in case of doubt of commissaries on his actual capacity to continue the race. In order to be at the final classification, the vehicle must have taken the last day start and have passed on its own means the last TC of the race at the last leg arrival, on the podium.

Check Book

Each team will be handed a Time Card on which they'll be marked the timings of start and the stamps of any passed CP. Each team is the only responsible for its Time Card, in case of loss they are otherwise penalized with 50 km or less.

Authorized assistance

For a vehicle regularly registered and still running at the Pharaons Classic. For an assistance vehicle regularly registered at Pharaons Classic and within the assistance areas foreseen on the track.

Classification

The General Classification will be done with the addition of all marked kilometers (= run kilometers by difficulty grade less possible penalties). There is a particular classification according to categories (Historic, Classic, Recent and 2 Wheels Drive).

In case of ex-æquo, teams are divided according to vehicle age and the oldest is declared winner.
